Office workplace accidents account for a multitude of employee injuries each year. Employees should be trained in proper workplace safety upon initial hire, and at regular intervals to help minimize injuries.

    Tripping and Falls

  1. Tripping and falls are the main cause of workplace accidents and can result in serious personal injury. Tripping hazards include stairs, open drawers, rugs, electrical cords, storage areas, office furniture and wet floors.
  2. Lifting

  3. Improper lifting is a significant cause of workplace injuries. All employees should be regularly trained in safe lifting characteristics and techniques, which will help eliminate accidents and injuries.
  4. Storage Areas

  5. Storage rooms and closets hold the possibility for accidents including back injuries, sprains and strains, falls, head injuries and broken bones. Keeping these areas uncluttered and organized will help minimize accidents.
  6. Ergonomics

  7. Office furniture, including desks, chairs and work stations should be evaluated on a regular basis to ensure employee comfort. Proper ergonomics will reduce injuries including back, neck and arm issues.
  8. Work Practices

  9. Proper work practices must be used by all employees. These include work breaks, proper posture, lighting, ventilation, positioning of computer equipment, and using the least amout of force to operate office equipment.
