Different Types of Oven Ranges

A range is a large cooking stove with burners built into the top surface that also can contain one or two ovens. Several types of ranges are available to complement any kitchen decor. The types include drop-in, slide-in, freestanding, electric fuel type and gas fuel type.

Drop-In Range

Available in both gas and electric fuel types, the drop-in range is ideal for giving the kitchen a built-in look because it will not cover the kitchen walls.

Freestanding Range

The freestanding range can be positioned against the wall anywhere in the kitchen. The freestanding range also is available in electric or gas fuel types.

Slide-In Range

The slide-in range gives you the option to decorate the kitchen walls because it will not cover the walls. It also gives the kitchen a built-in look and is available in gas or electric fuel types.

Electric Range

An electric range requires the use of electricity to operate the cooking features, which include the cook top and the oven.

Gas Range

A gas range requires the use of natural gas or a liquid propane supply tank to operate the oven and cook top. The gas range also should be monitored periodically to eliminate gas leaks.
