You can achieve a lot in a week.

A good weekly workout plan should include aerobic exercise and resistance and flexibility training. It should help you burn calories, lower your stress level, lift your mood and make your heart healthier.

  1. Days One and Three

    • Push yourself to run faster or bike harder. For example, on a treadmill or running track, run as fast as you can for five minutes, then walk for five minutes. Repeat for a total of 45 minutes.

    Days Two and Five

    • Do crunches, push-ups or pull-ups to build resistance by making you work against the weight of your own body.

    Days Four and Six

    • Do an hour of yoga or Pilates or take a dance class to build flexibility. Maintaining flexibility ensures that you can move onto more challenging exercises while avoiding injury.

    Day Seven

    • Treat yourself to a long, leisurely bike ride or a long-distance jog. Moderate exercise for longer periods of time keeps your heart healthy.

    Theory

    • By alternating types of training, you're giving your muscles time to repair themselves. Adapt your workout as you improve to continue to give yourself the best overall exercise you can.
