Nexium, a prescription drug used to treat acid reflux issues, can be prescribed to a pregnant woman. It is considered a class B drug and is not anticipated to harm an unborn baby if taken during pregnancy.

Nexium is used to reduce stomach acid. It is often prescribed to treat symptoms of acid reflux. It is also used to help repair damage done to the esophagus from acid.

There have been no sufficient studies conducted on pregnant women taking Nexium. However, it is still expected to be safe for the unborn baby.

Studies conducted on pregnant rats and rabbits using Nexium showed that when following the correct dosage, Nexium did not cause birth defects or negative side effects relating to the pregnancy.

Nexium side effects include allergic reaction, dry mouth, headache, constipation, diarrhea, stomach pain and gas.

Before taking Nexium, let your doctor know if you are pregnant or plan to become pregnant. If your doctor prescribes Nexium to you, follow the correct dosage.
