Tegaderm™ is a transparent film dressing used to assist in the healing of wounds, cuts and abrasions. Unlike traditional bandages, Tegaderm keeps the wound moist to prevent scabbing and assist in the formation of new skin.

Function

Tegaderm's transparent membrane is a breathable barrier that blocks bacteria and viral contaminants.

Uses

Aside from use in treating acute or chronic wounds, Tegaderm is used in hospitals to seal and protect IV insertion points or to preserve surgical sites.

Benefits

Tegaderm keeps the wound sterile and moist. This speeds up the healing process and reduces the likelihood of scarring. Available in a variety of shapes and sizes, Tegaderm's clear center and framed edges allow for precise wound placement.

Considerations

Because it's breathable, Tegaderm can be left in place for longer than traditional bandages. However, if any red spots are noticed under the transparent window, that's a sign of infection, and the Tegaderm should be removed.
