There are multiple types of oils to choose from for your baking and cooking needs. Canola oil and olive oil are two of the most popular oils. In the end, you want to ensure that you pick the oil with the most health benefits.

    Identification

  1. Olive oil comes directly from olives. According to www.healingdaily.com, it is "the only vegetable oil that can be consumed as it is, freshly pressed from the fruit." Canola seeds are pressed to create Canola oil.
  2. Olive Oil

  3. Olive oil has antioxidant properties and is a good source of monounsaturated fat (a healthy type of fat). Olive oil can help to prevent heart disease and colon cancer.
  4. Canola Oil

  5. Canola oil is high in omega-3 fatty acids, which can help to prevent heart attacks. Like olive oil, canola oil is high in monounsaturated fat and can help to prevent heart disease.
  6. Considerations

  7. Olive oil is known for being good for the stomach. Olive oil is seen as having a positive effect on ulcers and gastritis.
  8. Misconceptions

  9. There are multiple worries that sprout from Canola oil's start with an oil seed known as "rapeseed." While rapeseed is known for being unhealthy, Canola oil is not made from rapeseed and does not carry any of those health issues.

on 11/10/2009 Beware of what is being written here; it is in fact propaganda to increase sales. All polyunsaturated fats of which Canola oil is one are potent suppressers of the immune system and also, in the presence of carbohydrates in the diet, those oils rapidly furr the arteries. Avoid them in the diet where possible.
