Duties & Responsibilities of a Maintenance Plumber

Maintenance plumbers help keep the plumbing system running smoothly by keeping track of problems and fixing them in a satisfactory and timely manner. They work for private citizens, school boards, businesses and the government.

  1. Replace or Fix Broken Water Systems

    • Maintenance plumbers replace broken water lines, unstop clogged sewers, clear drains and install new water equipment.

    Repair Other Fixtures

    • Maintenance plumbers also install and repair toilets, bathtubs, refrigerators, stoves, kitchen sinks, and gas and water tanks.

    Advise Clients

    • For clients who are not too knowledgeable about what the plumbing problems are, the maintenance plumbers answer their questions, suggest solutions and give estimates on how much the services will cost.

    Alert Clients

    • Sometimes problems or misunderstandings occur during the job and maintenance plumbers often alert their clients. For example, if the plumber finds the toilet he was asked to install is too big for the space, he suggests a more suitable one.

    Maintains Pleasant Attitude

    • Maintenance plumbers sometimes face stressful situations and occasional disagreements with their clients so they keep a positive attitude and remain respectful in their conversations with the clients.
