Types of Screwdrivers Available in the Market

The screwdriver is one of the most common tools and can be found in nearly every household. It has an illustrious history that has resulted in a number of different types. Does this Spark an idea?

  1. Significance

    • The screwdriver as we know it today originally came from a flat-headed carpenter's tool known as a brace, which dates back to 1750.

    Flat Head

    • The oldest screwdriver type has a single flat head and is compatible with screws with a single straight groove.

    Phillips

    • Developed in the late 1920s by Henry Phillips, this screwdriver is used with screws that have a cross pattern.

    Torque

    • This kind of screwdriver is most commonly used on cars and trucks. It has a set of interchangeable patterns, such as the six-star pattern used on some screws, a Phillips head and a flat head.

    Robertson

    • This screwdriver has a square head and fits into a unique screw with a square head at the top.
