A physician may be able to determine the cause of myalgia during a routine physical examination. However, additional testing may be needed if the cause is not obvious. Fibromyalgia may be diagnosed if myalgia is accompanied by tender points and fatigue.
Treatment

Myalgia may be treated with ibuprofen or prescription pain medications. If fibromyalgia is present, medications such as Lyrica and Cymbalta may help with symptoms.
