What Services Does a Fertility Specialist Offer?
fertility specialist
Fertility specialists are physicians trained to assist couples to conceive when they haven't gotten pregnant after one year of unprotected sex. They help those over age 35 after six months with no pregnancy. There are many differences between an OB/GYN and the services a fertility specialist offers.
Diagnosis
-
Diagnosing the individual problem is the first thing a fertility specialist does. She can determine if there is a physical reason for a couple's infertility.
Fertility Treatment
-
There are many different options for treatment offered by a fertility specialist. These include drug therapy, in vitro fertilization, artificial insemination, and intrauterine insemination.
Sterilization Reversal
-
Fertility specialists can also perform surgeries to reverse sterilization procedures, such as a tubal ligation or a vasectomy.
Patience
-
As opposed to a traditional OB/GYN who treats women only, fertility specialists treat both men and women for reproductive health issues.
Specialized Services
-
Some fertility specialists offer services above and beyond basic fertility. Some have the technology to let parents determine the sex of their baby or make sure the embryo isn't predisposed to particular disorders.
