Dogs suffering from the plague may become depressed.

Like the plague in humans, canine plague is an infection caused by the bacteria Yersinia pestis. The bacteria are spread by the rodent flea, which can live off several different hosts, including rats, rabbits, cats and dogs. Any dog owner who suspects his dog has contracted the plague should contact a veterinarian immediately. If left untreated, plague can cause coma or death in dogs.
