Where Can I Get My Alien Registration Card in Person From U.S. Immigration?
U.S. alien registration cards are mailed to the permanent resident from the card center. It is impossible to receive the card in person.
-
Mailer
-
The card, known as immigration form I-551, will come in a mailer to the person's address.
Correct Address
-
It is imperative to keep the U.S. Citizenship and Immigration Service (CIS) apprised of the person's current address and to report address changes.

Errors on Card
-
If the card contains an error, and the error is due to a CIS mistake, the recipient may file a form I-90, without the filing fee, to obtain a new card with corrected data.
Requirement to Carry Card
-
A permanent resident must carry his Green Card on his person at all times.
Expiration

Before expiration, file form I-90, with the filing fee, to renew the card. The underlying status of permanent resident does not expire. Renewal is simply to update to the latest version of the card and the photo.
