Uses for Dried Lavender Flowers

Dried lavender flowers have a sweet, aromatic fragrance that is very relaxing. The Provence and Grosso lavenders have the most fragrance when dried. Not only is lavender lovely to look at, it also has many uses. Does this Spark an idea?

  1. Sachets

    • Rub the lavender buds onto a square piece of material (fine netting, silk, or muslin). Tie with a ribbon, yarn, or string. You can use in drawers or under your pillow.

    Insect Repellent

    • Lavender is a natural insect repellent. You can use tied bunches of lavender or sachets. Place by a door or a window. Hang from hangers in your closet to keep away moths. You can also place it under a doormat or your car seat.

    Oil

    • Lavender oil mixed with dried lavender in the water perks up a bath. Place a drop or two on a handkerchief or tissue, use it for a massage, or rub a drop on your skin for fragrance.

    Flower Arrangements

    • Place dried lavender in flower arrangements or wreaths to add color and a different texture.

    Weddings

    • Sachets of lavender buds make gifts for wedding guests, who then open the sachets and toss the dried lavender buds in place of rice. Dried lavender buds could also be scattered on the path where the wedding party will walk.
