Epoxy Glue for Pottery Repair
When pottery breaks, epoxy is often the best material to use to repair it. It hardens relatively quickly and is easy to apply to separate pieces of broken pottery.

Function
-
According to 3DChem, Epoxy is is "a thermosetting polymer that cures when mixed with a catalyzing agent or "hardener". It is also used for airplane and automobile construction and repair.
Features
-
Epoxy comes packaged in at least two separate parts, the "resin" and the "hardener," and are often color coded to avoid mix-ups. Curing time can be controlled by the type of hardener used and the environment in which the epoxy is curing.
-
Benefits
-
Using epoxy over another adhesive like cyanoacrylate (Super Glue) offers the user more control over the application method and curing time. Epoxy has a thicker consistency than other adhesives and will stay in place when repairing broken pieces of pottery.
Delivery Devices
-
Epoxy is sold in a number of delivery devices. Most consumer-brand epoxy is sold in a "dual syringe," which mixes the resin and hardener as they leave the tip of the syringe. Industrial epoxies are sold in separate containers, allowing the user to control the amount of each element applied.
Specialized Epoxy for Pottery Repair
-
When searching for an epoxy to use for pottery repair, look for epoxies that sand off easily when they dry, have faster curing times and are water soluble for easy cleanup.
