It is important to choose an air conditioner that suits the size of the room you are cooling. The cooling power of an air conditioner is measured in British thermal units (BTU). The amount of BTUs needed are derived from calculating the square footage of the room.

All air conditioners are rated by their seasonal energy efficiency rating (SEER). The Lennox Corp. boasts the highest SEER across all of its models for central air conditioners. Frigidaire has the highest SEER across all of its models for window air conditioners.
