A lot of effort goes into creating an effective team of employees at the workplace. The process involves selecting the right job candidates, evaluating their performances, recognizing work and output trends in individual departments, and deciding if or when someone needs to be replaced. These are the complex tasks of a human resources analyst. To get a job in this field, you usually need a bachelor’s degree in human resources, business or a related field, according to the U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics. Candidates should be detail-oriented and have strong decision-making, listening and interpersonal skills.
Description, Salary and Outlook
While the exact responsibilities of a human resources analyst depend on the work setting, there are a few common themes. They are usually involved in every step of the applicant selection process, from the interview to contacting those who've been hired to conducting new-hire orientation programs. In addition, they may be responsible for creating spreadsheets and reports to evaluate employees' performances; creating and updating job opening descriptions online and in print; and visiting job fairs and college campuses to find new recruits. The BLS reports that human resources specialists earned an average salary of $61,560 a year as of 2013. Glassdoor's 2014 average for this career was very close to that, at $60,000 a year.
