What Is Skype Extras Manager?
Skype Extras Manager was a program installed along with the Skype base application until the discontinuation of support in September 2009. The Skype Extras Manager was used to manage the various plug-ins available to Skype. It is the user's option to run the Skype Extras Manager or to turn it off if she does not utilize any Skype plug-ins.

Skype Extras Manager was introduced in June 2007 as a way to manage Skype and third-party developed add-ons for the Skype application.
Function

With the Skype Extras Manager, you can select which installed applications start up with Skype when you start the program. Skype Extras Manager is also used to start applications which are not running.

A full range of Skype Extras was available through the Skype Extras Manager including call recorders, fax applications, enterprise calling applications, games and voice analyzers.
Future of Extras

In September 2009, Skype announced it would end support for Skype Extras. The announcement made it clear that Skype Extras Manager would continue to operate as it does already and that all existing add-ons would remain active. All future development will cease.
Warning

Many users reported experiencing issues with the Skype Extras Manager due to its high levels of RAM usage. It is best to disable the Skype Extras Manager if you are not using any Skype Extras.
