Biaxin is prescribed to treat bacterial infections that may affect the respiratory system, skin and may be used to treat stomach ulcers cause by the H. Pylori virus.
Drug Interactions

Biaxin may interact with other drugs. Do not use Biaxin if you are taking cisapride, pimozide, ergotamine or dihydroergotamine, as this may cause a dangerous heart rhythm disorder.

Side Effects

Biaxin may cause some mild side effects such as stomach pain, nausea, vomiting, diarrhea, unpleasant taste in the mouth, tooth discoloration, dizziness, headache, confusion, skin rash and vaginal itching or discharge.
Serious Side Effects

Tell your doctor if you experience any of the following serious side effects after taking Biaxin: uneven heart beat, chest pain, shortness of breath, bloody diarrhea, vomiting, jaundice, fever, sore throat, headache with blistering rash and trouble hearing.
Warning

Consult your physician if you experience swelling of the lips or tongue, wheezing, trouble breathing or hives after taking Biaxin. This may indicate a life-threatening allergic reaction. It is not known if this medication causes birth defects, so be sure to tell your doctor if you are pregnant before taking Biaxin.
