Some of the side effects associated with the use of Vytorin are nausea, stomach pain, loss of appetite, itching, dark urine, clay colored- stools and yellowing of the skin or eyes, flu like symptoms and easy bruising or bleeding. Other side effects may include headache, dizziness, trouble with memory, depression, numbness, cough, sore throat, stuffy nose, joint pain and trouble sleeping.
Serious Side Effects

Get immediate medical attention if you experience the following symptoms after taking Vytorin; hives, swelling of the tongue or throat, wheezing, difficulty breathing or swelling of the lips. These are the symptoms of an allergic reaction that could be life-threatening.

Vytorin should not be taken by pregnant women, as it is known to cause birth defects. Be sure to tell your doctor if you have been diagnosed with kidney disease, thyroid disorders, diabetes, any muscle disorder and if you take steroid medication or birth control pills. Avoid alcohol while taking Vytorin, as it may increase the risk of damage to the liver. Grapefruit and grapefruit juice may interact with this medicine, so do not consume these while taking Vytorin. Vytorin can make your skin more sensitive to sun damage, so wear sunscreen while taking this medicine.
