Food & Decorations for a Fear Factor Party
A Fear Factor party, modeled after the reality show "Fear Factor," offers nearly endless opportunities for creativity. And because Fear Factor parties are becoming increasingly popular, there is no shortage of options in planning your party. Does this Spark an idea?

The Facts
-
Many party companies offer items for Fear Factor parties, so you can stock up on fake cockroaches, caution tape and poop candles. You also can plan at home with simple items. A blindfold, bare feet and a walkway of potato chips can create the sensation of walking on glass. A large jar filled with coins and crickets can make for a fun game of trying to retrieve the coins in spite of the crickets.
Features
-
Focus on items that are easy to find. Gummy worms and snakes can decorate the top of a cake, pie or cupcakes. Even better, hide the gummy creatures inside a whipped cream topping and have guests find them unexpectedly. Slightly melted candy bars floating in lemonade can provide an alternative to bobbing for apples, and candy bars melted into diapers offer the ultimate "gross-out" for guests.

Considerations
-
Fear Factor parties can become costly in a hurry, so if you are keeping a budget in mind focus on items that are easy to find. Local party shops should carry many items, but your grocery store might be the best option.
Warning
-
The purpose of a Fear Factor party is to inspire fear in guests, but bear in mind that some activities might be too much at a child's birthday party. Plan activities with the age of the guests in mind.
Attire
-
Suggest guests wear comfortable clothing that they don't mind getting dirty. You also may want to have towels on hand to clean up from the activities.
