Rehmannia for Menopause

Rehmannia is an herb that is used in traditional Chinese medicine, or TCM, for the treatment of menopause and other conditions, according to botanical.com. It is usually used in conjunction with other herbs as a part of an herbal formula.

    Effects

    • Formulas such as Rehmannia Six, a common Chinese herbal formula used to treat menopause, have been found to reduce the symptoms of menopause and balance female hormones such as estrogen.

    Causes

    • Menopause is caused by the natural decline in hormone production by the ovaries, according to the Mayo Clinic.

    Potential

    • In a study published in August of 2003 by Kwi-Ok Oh and a team of researchers from several Korean universities, an extract of rehmannia was found to inhibit bone loss that leads to osteoporosis due to an ovariectomy in female patients.
