Canned air isn't really just air--it generally includes either tetrafluoroethane or difluoroethane, both of which can be used by people to get high.

    Misconceptions

  1. Sniffing canned air isn't innocent fun. It is drug use, commonly called "huffing" by users and police.
  2. Immediate Side Effects

  3. Users may immediately feel dizzy or suffer from headaches, hallucinations, impaired judgment, limb spasms or abdominal pain.
  4. Long-term Side Effects

  5. The long-term side effects include permanent kidney, liver or central nervous system damage, muscle weakness, irritability and lack of coordination.
  6. Addictions

  7. Look for warning signs of inhalant addiction: hidden chemical-soaked rags, runny or red eyes and nose, nausea or loss of appetite and chemical stains on fingers or face.
  8. Warnings

  9. Some users of canned air may die due to "Sudden Sniffing Death Syndrome," even if it's the first time.
