What Is Dual Port Action?
"Dual-port action" is a term used to describe a gun that has been specially designed to be used by left-handed and right-handed individuals.
-
Significance
-
In gun terminology, "dual-port" units are normally rifles and other types of high-powered weapons used for things such as hunting.
Action
-
The "action" on a firearm is the chamber in which ammunition is loaded into and unloaded from.
-
Slots
-
A "dual-port" rifle will have slots carved into both sides of the "action." This is contrary to a regular rifle, which will only have slots carved into one side.
Loading
-
The slots cut into both sides of the action on a "dual-port" weapon will serve two functions. The first is to allow a person who is right-handed to load ammunition into the gun using their left hand.
Discharge
-
The second function of a "dual-port" weapon is to eject hot, empty ammunition shells from the right side of the gun. This is important so the user is not struck by the hot metal shells.
