History

In the late 1800s. the first cast-iron enameled clawfoot tubs were mass produced by J. L. Mott Iron Works in the Mott Haven neighborhood of the Bronx. This classic, free-standing clawfoot tub design is still considered the height of bathroom decor style today.
Materials

The majority of clawfoot tubs are either made of enameled cast iron or a lighter weight acrylic. Acrylic tubs are warmer to the touch and they are also able to keep water warmer for a longer period of time than cast iron bathtubs can.

Shapes

There are many varieties of a few basic designs. The classic tub has a nearly flat rim, while slipper clawfoot tubs have a raised side for back support. Double slipper tubs offer back support for two bathers.
Rims

The rim or upper lip of a clawfoot tub is often rounded or rolled to provide comfort during entry and exit.
Faucet
