Chinese Herbs for Angina Pectoris

Angina pectoris is chest pain caused by a lack of sufficient oxygen reaching the heart. It can be brought on by stress or physical activity. Some with the diagnosis of angina pectoris also state they experience some discomfort rather than pain. There are many Chinese herbs that can help those that suffer with angina pectoris.

  1. Dong Quai

    • Dong quai or Chinese angelica is primarily used for women and is often referred to as female ginseng. Evidence is being found that dong quai does work for those who suffer with angina pectoris.

    Peach Kernel

    • Peach kernel helps by promoting blood flow to the heart when you are having an episode of angina pectoris. Peach kernel can work by itself or with a combination of other Chinese herbs.

    Salvia

    • Salvia has been proven to promote heart and liver health. Like peach kernel, salvia assists in promoting blood flow to the heart. Salvia also works by detoxifying the blood, which helps prevent episodes of angina pectoris.

    Licorice

    • Licorice is a popular Chinese herb with many different uses. Licorice helps with the onset of pain that can be caused by angina pectoris. Licorice can be used in combination with other Chinese herbs.

    Faeces of Flying Squirrel

    • Faeces of flying squirrel is used to ensure oxygen is reaching the heart as it is supposed to.

    Cassia

    • Cassia is used to help those who have mild angina pectoris with pain management and to assist those who are smokers Cassia is used in combination with other Chinese herbs.
