Types of Pumps for Sewage

Sewage pumps are one of the great innovations of the 20th century and have seen a great amount of popularity since the 1960s. Developers have diversified the market with the advent of many types of pumps for different situations. Does this Spark an idea?

  1. Energy-Use in Pumps

    • To pump the fluids and solids through the outlet valve, centrifugal pumps use the velocity created by their centrifugal force and rotating impellers. On the other hand, agitator pumps use kinetic energy to liquefy solids, easing their transportation.

    Grinder Pump

    • Grinder pumps, like the name suggests, shred the solids.

    Emptying of Tanks

    • Sewage is emptied from the tank by macerator pump, while sump pumps empty the tank of unnecessary water. This water serves as a hazard when near living spaces or vulnerable equipment.

    Ejector Pumps

    • Ejector pumps use gravity to move sewage that has difficulty flowing to its destination. There are two types of ejector pumps, vertically suspended and close-coupled submersibles; these pumps help with waste transportation from buildings to sewage systems, then from the sewage system to the treatment plant.

    Immersible and Submersible Pumps

    • Immersible pumps only work when fully immersed in sewage, with the motor protected by a sealed barrier. Submersible pumps are contained within the tank; the motor is protected by an oil-filled cavity.
