Bitter Melon Tea Vs. Green Tea

Teas have been popular around the world for centuries. Green tea, one of the most common, is often compared to Bitter Melon tea, a tea relatively new to fame but growing in popularity. Does this Spark an idea?

  1. Bitter Melon Tea

    • Scientifically known as momordica charantia, Bitter Melon is a vine with leaves and green fruit. It got the name "Bitter Melon" because of its quick tendency to turn bitter after harvesting.

    Bitter Melon Tea Advantages

    • The whole Bitter Melon plant is a good source of vitamins and minerals, but drinking it as a tea results in lower blood sugar for those with type 2 diabetes. It is also known to help in the fight against HIV/AIDS, cancer and other diseases.

    Green Tea

    • Coming from the camellia sinensis tree, Green tea is the least processed of all teas. By removing the leaves, quickly steaming them and drying until crisp, makers of Green tea preserve its natural flavor and power.

    Green Tea Advantages

    • Since it is mostly unprocessed, green tea contains powerful antioxidants and little caffeine. It also has many phytonutrients.

    Comparison

    • Depending on your ailment, Bitter Melon tea and Green tea provide many health benefits. Both can taste slightly bitter, but Bitter Melon tea will likely produce more bitter results.
