-
Propagating
-
Seed from the grass can be sown after the last frost of winter or existing plants can be divided at the roots. This grass can withstand a variety of warm climates and thrives in zones 5a to 10b across the United States. It does not thrive in areas that receive frost.
-
Cultivating
-
Muhly seeds or starter plants should be planted in a sunny location. Although it is a naturally drought tolerant grass, it should be watered on a regular basis during the dry months to keep the foliage green. Muhly grass care does not require anything unusual from other plants because it is a tall grass. You may want to prune it down but cutting lower than 7 inches can result in the plant's death.
Blooms
-
Rose and magenta colored blooms appear from late summer all the way through early winter, making it ideal for adding color to various landscapes.
Diseases
-
There are no known commonly-occurring diseases for this plant.
Pests
-
No pests are known to have a markedly negative effect on this plant.
