Side Effects of Esbelcaps

Esbelcaps is a type of antidepressant and weight loss drug sold in Mexico, but it's illegal to sell in the United States due to its ingredients. Unfortunately, Esbelcaps is available on many Internet websites that do not list the harmful side effects associated with the medication.

  1. Ingredients

    • Esbelcaps doses contain 20 mg of fenproporex, an amphetamine that is not approved for legal sale in the United States. The drug also contains 6 mg of diazepam, what would be for most patients a full day's dosage of Valium to treat conditions like anxiety disorders, alcohol withdrawal, severe muscle spasms, seizure disorders and to sedate an elderly patient dying from a debilitating disease.

    Types of Common Side Effects

    • Side effects of fenproporex include headaches, fever, sweating, diarrhea, constipation, blurred vision, shaking, dizziness, impaired speech, insomnia, numbness and heart palpitations, according to the FDA. The most common side effects of diazepam include fatigue, muscle weakness and lack of coordination, reports RxList.

    Drug Interactions

    • Patients taking anti-psychotic drugs, other sedatives, hypnotics, seizure medications, narcotic pain reliever, sedative antihistamines, barbiturates, MAO inhibiting drugs, antifungal medications like keotconazole and antidepressants are at risk for developing extreme sedation or increased side effects from diazepam, according to RxList. Because of this, it may not be safe for you to take Esbelcaps if you are being treated with any of these medications.

    Risks

    • In addition to the risk of sudden death posed by this illegal ingredient, fenproporex also has the potential to cause very rapid heart beat, fast and heavy breathing, hypertension and arrhythmia, according to the FDA. Some patients who take diazepam develop respiratory depression, a possibly fatal condition in which your brain becomes unable to control your breathing, leading to a lack of oxygen.

    Restrictions

    • Because both diazepam and fenproporex are likely not safe for your baby, avoid taking Esbelcaps if you are pregnant or nursing. Additionally, avoid drinking while using Esbelcaps, because alcohol has the potential to increase the effects of diazepam.

    Considerations

    • Although obesity and depression are serious health problems, it is not known if the risk posed by Esbelcaps outweighs the drug's positive effects on these conditions. If you are suffering from depression or need to lose weight, talk to your doctor about safe alternatives before buying Esbelcaps online.
