What Would Be the Perfect Membership Club?
While some may see the perfect membership club as one where wealth, family pedigree or social class matters the most, the perfect membership club should be a group for those who are sometimes neglected by society. This club should also create ways to make their lives better.
-
Single Mothers
-
For too long single mothers have been viewed as mostly irresponsible and not possessing a work ethic. But some single mothers lost their husbands and some are divorced. In this club they would receive financial planning, job training, discounts on child care and assistance in housing.
Foster Children
-
This club would also welcome foster children because often they feel alone and misunderstood by adopted parents or group home administrators. It would hold weekend parties that include athletic games, dance contests, free food and school supplies. This club would also give discounts to their parents on groceries and clothing.
-
The Homeless
-
Not all homeless are in this condition because of laziness. The current economic situation caused many companies to downsize and lay off workers. This club would sponsor a shelter where not only the homeless would have a place to sleep, but where they will receive help in finding work. This club would also help by hiring them as club employees and pay them wages that enable them to live independently.
Victims of Abuse
-
Sometimes we wonder why certain people are always angry or depressed. Maybe it's because they were abused sexually, emotionally or physically. Think about the teenage girl who experiences low self-worth because of a rape or the teenage boy who struggles in school because his father said he'll never be anything. This club will provide free counseling to them and tutoring after-school.
The Elderly
-
As the baby boomers get older, we should make sure that their needs are met. This club would provide a 24-hour cab service to take them places for free. It would also provide them with volunteer opportunities so they can continue to be active. Finally, the club would set up a free clinic for these members.
