Being a pilot can involve filling many roles. For an Army pilot, there are some particular duties.

  1. Military Jets

  2. Specialized Aircraft

  3. Like all pilots, Army pilots fly fixed-wing aircraft (airplanes) or helicopters. Military aircraft have specialized uses, though, such as in combat missions. Specialized aircraft are necessary to use as attack aircraft or bombers. Test pilots operate and evaluate prototype and experimental aircraft.
  4. Army Pilot Duties: Cargo

  5. A pilot may airlift cargo. He could be involved in delivering troops or supplies, including everything from mail to bombs.
  6. Army Pilot Duties: Search and Rescue

  7. A pilot might engage in finding people, often casualties, and evacuating them from a site. In this role, he might be involved in disaster relief.
  8. Army Pilot Duties: Combat

  9. Army pilots might engage in combat missions, often as air support for ground troops. They might execute visual reconnaissance, or they might be involved in direct attacks on targets.
  10. Army Pilot Responsibilites

  11. All Army pilots are officers, either commissioned or warrant. They're responsible for the personnel and equipment under their command. Their management and welfare are an enormous part of the job.
