What Is a Noble Person?

Noble qualities and good manners enjoy a place of paramount significance in Christianity as well as all major religions. Moral fruition and cultural uplift is one of the main reasons Jesus gave up his life for us.

  1. Significance

    • Nobility is a character attribute that is widely acknowledged and esteemed in all faiths. Truthfulness, uprightness and integrity form the basis of a noble character. It is in a rank of its own, dignifying every station.

    Identification

    • Most of the sages that have traversed the Earth have been noble and good. Of all the great religions of the world, be they Christianity, Islam or Judaism, one trait that remains common in their individual prophets is nobility of character: Jesus, Mohammad, David, Abraham, even the Buddha were individuals renowned for their fortitude, patience, kindness and honesty -- characteristics of nobility.

    Types

    • The saints, including St. Francis of Assisi and Mother Teresa, politicians such as Nelson Mandela and Gandhi, and other everyday individuals who strive to make the world a better place are all those that uphold the values of nobility. People who have left an indelible mark on this world, who have left the world a better place, and continue to do so everyday are people of noble character.

    Effects

    • A noble being is celebrated for his or her self-respect. His moral fiber is of supreme value to him, and he functions not to appease others or live up to their expectations but only to approve his inward monitor, or conscience. Politeness, forbearance, kindness, charity are all qualities that are sacred to a noble human being. Riches and rank have no value in the eyes of one truly noble, and one of limited resources can rise and transcend all physical boundaries by his mere goodness and nobility.

    Function

    • Someone with the qualities that define nobility, united with a strength of purpose, has a power that is irresistible. He is then strong enough to do good, to resist evil and bear with fortitude any misfortune that may befall him or his loved ones.
