The 2009 Season

Ballance has dominated the sport of ATV Cross Country racing for nearly a decade with nine consecutive championships from 2000 to 2008. He was finally dethroned in 2009 by a combination of Rockstar/Suzuki racer Chris Borich and a personal battle with cancer.
Beating Cancer

Ballance was diagnosed with cancer just prior to the opening of the 2009 season. He missed the first two races of the year recovering from surgery to remove two cancer infected ribs. But even cancer could not stop Ballance from being a threat to the 2009 championship. He not only returned to the series, but he managed to win one race, get on the podium fives times and end the season with 197 points for 4th overall in the 2009 standings.

Bill Ballance was born August 26, 1976, near his current hometown of Smiths Grove, KY. He began riding dirt bikes and ATVs at a young age and began his professional racing career in 1994 at the age of 18. His racing style was born from the woods of Kentucky and honed all up and down the east coast.
The Champion

Starting in the 2000 season, Ballance began winning title after title until 2008. While many riders would draw close to dethroning the champ, in the end it was Ballance standing on top of the podium. For nine consecutive championships, no one could find a way to go faster for longer than Ballance.

Ballance stands in at 5 feet 9 inches and weighs 180 pounds. His favorite track is Loretta Lynn's Motocross Complex. He currently owns and operates Ballance Moto-X Park w/Ballance Riding School during the off season. His hobbies include fishing, hunting and golf. He is married and has a daughter. He defeated cancer in 2009.
