What Is the File Extension MIM?

The MIM file extension is used for encoding message files. The MIME extension is related to the MIM extension. MIME stands for "Multi-Purpose Internet Mail Extensions."

    Identification

  1. The letters "MIM" will appear after the dot in the file name "filename.mim."
  2. Function

  3. MIM (MIME) files store video, audio, text, image and other information.
  4. Programs

  5. Email programs such as Outlook, Outlook Express, and Mozilla Thunderbird may automatically decode MIM files. WinZip, IZArc and other decoding programs may be used to open MIM files.
  6. Considerations

  7. Deleting or altering MIM or MIME files may result in data loss. Since email attachments may also be contained in MIM files, some files may contain malicious code.
  8. Warning

  9. Never delete any file without knowing what its function is. Also, it is important to have antivirus software active to prevent malicious code execution.
