Spain Immigration Requirements

Before applying for citizenship in Spain, set up residency for at least 10 years. Quicker routes exist for exceptional cases. Obtain a non-lucrative permit if the process becomes too much.

      Apply after five years if you were granted political refuge or asylum. Apply after one year if you were born in Spain, have a Spanish parent or are (or were) married to a Spanish citizen.

      Present your birth certificate, marriage certificate, and parents' birth and marriage certificates translated into Spanish with your application. Turn in a certificate from the police stating your good conduct and statements from two Spanish citizens supporting your character.
