Visa Requirements for UK Citizens
A citizen of the United Kingdom may require a visa to enter the United States. Certain visitors may also apply for entry under the Visa Waiver Program, which allows for a visit of up to 90 days without prior visa clearance.

Visa Waiver Program

The visa waiver program allows citizens of the UK to enter the US for up to 90 days for the purposes of visiting without a prior visa. To be eligible, a traveler must not have any criminal convictions or have violated any immigration laws in the past, such as overstaying a visa.
Working

To work in the United States, UK citizens require a visa. There are several types of work visa available, depending upon the type and duration of the work being performed.

Fiancee

If a UK citizen is engaged to a US citizen and wishes to join them in the US for the purposes of settlement, they must apply for a K-1 fiance visa. Upon their marriage, the fiance is then eligible to adjust their status to that of a permanent resident.
Spouse

Spouses of US citizens and lawful permanent residents who wish to settle with their spouse in the US may apply for either a K-3 or an IR-1/CR-1 visa. A K-3 visa is a multiple entry visa which requires adjustment of status after entry. With an IR-1/CR-1 visa, status is adjusted upon entry.
Students

Students who wish to study in the US must apply for an F-1 student visa. A J-1 visa may also be used, for secondary school study.
