Perfume Made With Seawater

Scent is a personal preference, and many people are drawn to aromas that bring back pleasant memories or moments. For many, there is nothing like a day at the beach, soaking up the warm sun and the smell of sea air. Perfumes made with seawater have taken those thoughts and put them in a bottle.

  1. Significance

    • The smell of seawater is a soothing and refreshing aroma. It elicits a sense of coolness, serenity and relaxation and touches all of the senses. Most seawater fragrances are found in the men's department, though women's blends are also becoming popular.

    Examples

    • Davidoff Cool Water perfume and colognes are examples of seawater fragrances. The line has increased and improved for both men and women. Aqua Di Gio is also popular scent for men. Both brands bring to mind the essence of white, foamy waves and cool breezes.

    Newer Blends

    • New perfume blends influenced by summer breezes of exotic locations are Antonio Banderas Blue Seduction for men and Jil Sander Sun Men Fresh. Both have blends of seawater and emit an ocean spray scent.

    Niche Perfumes

    • Select specialty perfume makers also use extracts of seawater in their perfumes. The house of Montale introduced Embruns d'Essaouira and Sandflowers, which both emit fragrances of sea wind, desert sand and flowers.

    Women's Blends

    • M by Mariah Carey combines incense and Tiare flowers, a hint of sea aromas and salt. Rochas Aquawoman is a light summer fragrance with seawater undertones. Ella Mikao:Yujin Amour and Reminiscence Etoile de Rem also use a breath of seawater.

    Bottles

    • Many of the seawater perfume and fragrances come in blue, water-bottle shaped bottles or bottles that are similar to ice cubes. A fragrance's bottle should mimic the scent and symbolize the aroma.
