The rotator cuff is located in the shoulder. It's made up of tendons and muscles which give your arm its range of motion. Rotator cuff injuries commonly occur after repetitive activities. They may also happen after falling or lifting.

    At Risk Activities

  1. Those at risk for rotator cuff injuries are athletes who regularly use repetitive movements or workers such as painters. Additionally, as people age, their bones and muscles weaken which can also lead to rotator cuff pain.
  2. Symptoms

  3. Symptoms of an injured rotator cuff may consist of severe pain, weakness or the loss of range of motion.
  4. Diagnosis

  5. The diagnosis of rotator cuff injuries can be made by an x-ray, MRI or ultrasound.
  6. Treatments

  7. Rotator cuff pain can be treated with physical therapy, steroid injections or surgery.
  8. Prevention

  9. To avoid developing rotator cuff pain, take frequent breaks between activities to rest your shoulder muscles.
