Audi A4 Transmission Information


The Audi A4 is equipped with a variety of manual, automatic and semi-automatic transmissions. The Audi Sport A4 DTM is equipped with a high-performance manual transmission to handle the horsepower and torque of its 460-hp engine.


  • The Audi A4, launched in 1994, employs many powerful engines, including the 2.4- and 3-liter V-6s and the 2.5- and 3-liter diesel V-6s that require heavy-duty multi-faceted transmissions to transmit the power.

  • The 7-speed S tronic transmissions is the four-wheel-drive Audi 4's direct-shift gearbox that electronically controls a multi-shaft dual-clutch manual gearbox without a clutch pedal.


  • The 8-speed multitronic Continuously Variable Transmission is the Audi A4's stepless automatic in which the gear ratio various continuously to handle the torque of turbodiesel engine.
