How to Clean a Floating Dock?
While many people love boating, one of the things they dislike is coming home from a day on the lake, river or ocean and having to clean their floating dock. But the alternative is coming back to a dock that is messy, slimy and slippery.

Know the Materials
-
A floating boat dock is in the distance. Different kinds of docks require different kinds of cleaning methods. An aluminum dock simply requires a deck to be hosed off with a hose.
Working with Wood
-
A wood dock will require some extra cleaning using a pressure washer and cleaning agents. It would be helpful to clean the dock with chemicals that cut down on algae build-up. Try outdoor bleach.
-
Plastic Dock
-
Use a pressure washer with a low psi to work on plastic docks. In theory, most plastic docks won't need heavy cleaning agents. Make sure to clean the couplings that hold the dock together.
Knowing When to Scrub
-
Some docks require more work if they have not been cleaned in a while. Sweep away any leaves and debris, then spray the dock with a hose. Finish by using a scrub brush to get at areas the hose missed.
Making Repairs
-
Repair any broken materials such as connectors, dock guards and handrails. This will help maintain the life of the dock.
