Lingerie Sales Job Description

Although the specific tasks of lingerie sales associates may differ according to specific stores, their job usually entails greeting customers, helping them find the merchandise they're looking for, ringing up purchases, and making sure the store's inventory is fully stocked. That means having a range of sizes, colors and types of lingerie in the store---and having knowledge about all the products offered.

  • A lingerie sales associate must welcome customers in a well-timed, professional and pleasant manner. This promotes good customer service and a pleasant environment, all of which are important for generating sales.

  • In order to build long-lasting relationships with clientele, a sales associate might notify regular customers ahead of time about special events, sales and merchandise. An important part of the sales assistant's job is to help customers find what they're looking for; this includes helping them pick out the perfect gift for someone else or finding the lingerie that's ideal for them.

  • Lingerie sales associates are required to be familiar with all the merchandise and possess solid knowledge about the different brands, materials and selections to be found in the store. They might need to know how to correctly fit or measure a person for the lingerie.

  • A lingerie sales person is responsible for merchandising tasks, including folding and stocking the lingerie, re-merchandising, making sure the products are correctly priced and presenting or displaying the products in an inviting way.

  • A lingerie sales associate has to know how to use things like cash registers, computerized software used in the store, calculators and price guns in order to keep precise records of product sales and inventory.
