Didrex Side Effects

Didrex is a prescription medication that comes in tablet form. Despite its effectiveness as an appetite suppressant for weight loss, Didrex poses a risk for side effects in some patients.

Types of Common Side Effects

Common side effects of Didrex include changes in libido, dry mouth, impotence and an unpleasant taste in your mouth.

Physical Dependence

Because it is a type of amphetamine, it is possible to develop a physical dependence upon Didrex. If you become addicted to the drug and suddenly stop taking, you may experience withdrawal side effects, such as severe depression, fatigue and disruption in sleep.

Drug Interactions

When taken within 14 days of psychiatric MAO inhibitor drugs, it is possible to develop dangerously high blood pressure levels from Didrex.

Risks

Though rare, some patients develop psychosis while taking Didrex. Infrequently, prolonged use of Didrex results in cariomyopathy, a dangerous weakening of your heart muscle.

Considerations

Because it has the potential to cause harm to your baby, do not use Didrex if you are pregnant or nursing. If you have a history of glaucoma, cardiovascular disease, hypetension or drug abuse, your doctor is not likely to prescribe Didrex due to its possible side effects.
