CO Q10 Side Effects

CO Q10, or Coenzyme Q10, is an antioxidant found naturally in meats and seafood as well as the human body. Despite its use in the treatment of mitochondrial disorders, heart conditions, Parkinson's and Huntingdon's disease, muscular dystrophy and migraines, CO Q10 poses a risk for side effects in some patients.

  1. Types of Side Effects

    • Possible side effects of CO Q10 include stomach upset, loss of appetite, nausea, vomiting and diarrhea.

    Solution

    • Taking smaller doses of Coenzyme Q10 two or three times per day may reduce side effects of CO Q10 supplements.

    Drug Interactions

    • CO Q10 has the potential to decrease the effectiveness of chemotherapy. When combined with Warfarin or Coumadin, CO Q10 increases your risk for developing uncontrollable bleeding.
