Information on the Different Parts of the Brain
The human brain is divided into three major parts: the cerebrum, the cerebellum and the brain stem. The cerebrum has four sections called lobes. They are the frontal, parietal, occipital and temporal lobes.

Frontal Lobe

The frontal lobe, located directly behind the forehead, is where our personality is stored. The lobe controls emotions, problem solving, language, memory, impulse control, judgment, social behavior, movement and sexual behavior.

Parietal Lobe

The parietal lobe, located behind the frontal lobe, extending to the back of the skull, deals with right and left orientation, mathematics, writing, self-grooming, making things, drawing, the ability to recognize self faults and visual/mental coordination.
Occipital Lobe

The occipital lobe is located at the lower back part of the skull, behind the parietal and temporal lobes. It processes visual input from the eyes, discriminates color and discriminates movement.
Temporal Lobe

The temporal lobe is located on both sides of the skull, below the frontal and parietal lobes. It processes hearing, information retrieval, behavior, interactive language and auditory association.
Cerebellum

The cerebellum is located at the bottom inside of the brain below the cerebrum, directly between the ears. The cerebellum controls balance, coordination, conscious muscle movement, judging distance, muscle tone, speech control and normal eye movement.
Medulla Oblongata

The medulla oblongata, or brain stem, is located in the center of the brain, connects the body with the rest of the brain, and is surrounded by the cerebrum and cerebellum. It controls unconscious movement like breathing, digestion and heart rate.
