The Darjeeling tea industry produces $7.5 million of revenue annually, according to DarjeelingNews.net. Due to the limited geographic region where the tea can grow, Darjeeling tea is one of the most expensive teas in the world.

  5. The hottest month in Darjeeling, India is July, when temperatures average a maximum of 25 degrees C. January is the coldest month with average maximum temperatures of 8 degrees C, according to the BBC Weather. July is also the wettest month of the year, when the area receive an average of 26 rainy days and 798mm of rainfall.

  7. The seasons in the Darjeeling hills affect the types of Darjeeling tea produced. The most typical Darjeeling varieties are produced during the spring and summer Flush seasons, that occur from May through September.

  9. Only 83 tea gardens exist in the Darjeeling hills. They are responsible for growing the world's supply of Darjeeling. The total size of the area is 19,000 hectares.
