Adobe Reader, a software industry standard for PDF viewing, helps users edit, annotate and peruse a vast array of documents. However, errors can occur within Adobe, causing a number of problems for the user.

Downloads
-
Errors could occur in the file-downloading process. If this occurs, check the reliability of your Internet connection or disable your computer's antivirus software. (See Reference 1.)
Installation
-
If an error occurs during installation, use Adobe Download Manager to handle the download. If the problem persists, reinstall Adobe Reader. (See Reference 1.)
-
Performance
-
A blank screen or frozen windows are other common problems in Adobe Reader. If this occurs, shut down any other applications and run Adobe Reader again. Ensure you have the latest Adobe Reader update to fix various bugs or glitches. (See Reference 2.)
Limited Capability
-
Some problems occur because of Adobe's limited functionality. For these issues, consider purchasing Adobe Acrobat, Reader's companion software that greatly enhances the program's capabilities.
Other Problems
-
If other errors occur, open "Add or Remove Programs" on a Windows Desktop. Select Adobe Reader and click "Change." When prompted, press to repair Adobe Reader. Once the repair process is complete, restart Windows. (See Reference 2.)
