Sinupret is a type of herbal supplement commonly used to treat allergies, the common cold, coughing and sinus infections. The supplement is also used for the overall improvement of the respiratory tract and sinuses. It enhances the immune system and is free of caffeine and stimulants. There are various side effects that could result from taking Sinupret.

Side Effects

Some possible side effects of Sinupret include upset stomach, diarrhea, nausea, throwing up, numbness, weakness and minor irritation of the skin. These side effects are infrequent, although they tend to subside rapidly. If you have any of these side effects and find them to be especially troubling or long-lasting, consult your doctor.

Kidney Stones

Kidney stones are a very uncommon yet severe side effect of Sinupret. If you experience signs of kidney stones while taking Sinupret, seek emergency medical assistance. Symptoms of kidney stones include nausea, throwing up, extreme and sudden pain that comes and goes (usually around the abdomen, genitals, groin, back, and side), bloody urine, painful urination and having to urinate with great frequency.

Allergic Reactions

Severe allergic reactions to this herbal supplement are unlikely, although they are possible. If you think that you are experiencing an allergic reaction to Sinupret, immediately get medical help. Signs of allergic reaction to Sinupret are swelling of the throat, mouth, tongue, and lips; trouble breathing; wheezing; rash; itchiness; and hives.

Caution

Sinupret is not necessarily safe or recommended for everybody. Talk to your doctor beforehand about whether Sinupret is safe for you. This is especially important if you have rheumatoid arthritis, multiple sclerosis, kidney stones (in the past), systemic lupus erythematosus, high or low blood pressure or any allergies. Pregnant or nursing women should consult their doctor before using Sinupret.

Drug Interactions

Drug interactions can reduce or increase the effectiveness or side effects of certain medications. Some drugs that interact with Sinupret include monoclonal antibodies, blood pressure medicines, immunosuppressants, tacrolimus, methotrexate, corticosteroids, mycophenolate, etanercept and cyclosporine.
