Types of Computer Processor
The processor is also called the CPU, or central processing unit of the computer. This is the expensive part of the computer, and it is where the power of the computer lies.

History
-
Computer processors have changed greatly since the first generation of computers used vacuum tubes instead of integrated circuits.
-
Fun Fact
-
Moore's Law states the number of transistors that will fit on a computer chip will double every two years--drastically increasing the speed of the processor in that time.
Core Types
-
A processor might have a single-, double- or quad-core processor, which determines how many instructions can be completed at one time (more is faster).
Size
-
A computer processor is most often rated by the speed and size of the chip, measured in Mhz. The larger number of Mhz, the faster the computer processor will perform.
Considerations
-
The largest manufacturers of computer processors are Intel and AMD. Both companies manufacture a large number of types of processors for different computers.
