Wedding Etiquette & Expectations
When planning a wedding, it helps to know who is going to pay for which expenses. While traditionally most of the burden has fallen to the bride's family, responsibility has shifted and is often shared equally by the bride's and groom's parents. In some cases, the bride and groom also pay a share of the costs.

Bride's Family
-
Traditionally, the bride's family pays for the reception. According to OurMarriage.com, the bride's family is traditionally responsible for the bulk of the wedding expenses including invitations, programs, the church fee, photography, music, most of the flowers, reception hall and reception food.

Groom's Family
-
The groom's family is usually responsible for the rehearsal dinner. The groom's family is expected to pay for the rehearsal dinner and the groom's cake. His family is responsible for making hotel reservations for any out-of-town guests they have invited.
Bride
-
The bride pays for gifts for the groom and her bridesmaids. The bride is expected to pay for the groom's wedding ring, gifts for the groom and her bridesmaids, the bridesmaid luncheon and accommodations for any out-of-town guests invited by her family.
Groom
-
The groom is responsible for the bride's gift and gifts for his groomsmen. The groom is responsible for providing the bride's wedding ring, gifts for the bride and his groomsmen, the bride's bouquet, the mothers' corsages, the groom's and groomsmen boutonnieres, the marriage license, honorarium for the clergyman, and the honeymoon.
Tipping
-
You may want to tip your wedding musician. Usually gratuities are adding to the cost of the reception, however additional tipping is acceptable and appreciated. Consider tipping coat room attendants, limousine drivers and in some cases, florists, bakers, musicians and photographers.
