Most of aloe vera gel's benefits have been proven scientifically to be true. Aloe vera gel research at Jodrell Laboratory in England,"describes antidiabetic, anticancer and antibiotic activities, so we may expect to see a widening use of aloe gel."

  3. During Biblical times, the fragrant varieties of the aloe vera plant were used for perfumes. One of the earliest cultures who used aloe vera ( Aloe Barbadenis Miller) for healing was the Chinese.
  4. Cancer

  5. In a 1999 study at Sungkyunkwan University in Korea, aloe vera gel was shown in the lab to prevent the development of cancer. Aloe vera gel has significant "anti-tumor promoting effects."
  6. Burns

  7. Several scientific reports showed improved healing of minor burns with aloe vera gel. In 1963, A. Farkas received a patent for an aloe vera gel preparation, to use as a topical medication for burns.
  8. Hair

  9. Aloe vera gel was shown to regenerate hair follicles and regrow hair by John Heggers, Ph.D. These experiments were done in 1979 on burned guinea pigs at the Chicago Burn Center.
  10. Skin

  11. Aloe vera gel is an excellent skin moisturizer. "Aloe vera gel penetrates skin almost four times faster than water, and its super emollient qualities help it moisturize the under layers of skin."
  12. Warning

  13. Read the label or use gel from a live aloe vera plant. Andrew Weil, M.D. warns "some cosmetics that boast of their aloe content have too little of it to do your skin much good..."
